Valentine Writing

An engaging and hands-on writing activity I like to do with the kids is candy writing.  Students receive a pile of candy hearts and use the phrases on the hearts to create a story.  Beginning/early intermediate learners create simple sentences, while advanced students create stories.  Hands-on learners love manipulating the candy to make sentences.  You could also have students glue small red candies to represent periods.  The sentences the students create are so creative and students love reading their stories out loud.
