Laptops/Tablets

The big talk at Austin's
SXSWedu show this week has been News Corp's foray into the competitive world of school tablets. Their
Amplify Tablet was shown off and at $299 for the basic WiFi 10-inch model and $50 more for a version that can tap into a 4G mobile-phone data newtork. That's significantly cheaper than its competitors in this increasingly crowded market. Amplify comes with Android software and a few school-specific apps, but differentiates itself with a $99 a year subscription for online curriculum material that includes lessons and quizzes.
