iPads and Android tablets have some new competition: a generation of 8-inch tablets that use Windows 8.1 can give them a run for the money. First up is Lenovo’s Windows 8.1 Miix2 slate. It has an 8.1-inch screen that can show 1,280 by 800 resolution and respond to a teacher or student’s touch. Inside, Miix2 has Intel’s latest Bay Trail quad-core processor, 32- or 64GB of storage space, 802.11n WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. The whole thing weighs 12 ounces and measures 5.2- by 8.5-inches and is only 0.3-inches thick. The best part is that the tablet’s pricing starts at $300 for the 32GB model and $350 for the 64GB one.
