Small Slate, Small Price
Asus’s VivoTab Note 8 has everything that a school could want, but at $329 it is several hundred dollars less than what they are used to paying for notebooks or slates. Based on Windows 8.1, the tablet's 8-inch screen is a little skimpy, but should be adequate. Like other 8-inch tablets, it has a quad-core Intel Atom Z3740 processor that can run at between 1.3- and 1.9GHz. It comes with a scant 2GB of RAM and either 32- (at $329) or 64-GB of storage space (for $369). Asus adds a year of free unlimited Web storage with the Note 8 as well as a copy of Office Home and Student and a pressure-sensitive Wacom stylus.
