Congratulations to new Milken Educator Marissa Ochoa!

Nn08_valley5182_2 Former Scholastic Teacher Advisor Marissa Ochoa was surprised last week when Milken Family Foundation Chairman Lowell Milken presented her with a $25,000 Milken Educator Award for her excellence as a teacher.

In this photo from the Milken Family Foundation, Marissa Ochoa's students swarm around to congratulate her.

In addition to being a teacher at Valley Elementary School in Poway, California, Marissa is also a co-contributor to Scholastic.com's Strategies for English Language Learners Blog and was last year's Teacher Advisor for Grades 3-5.

Congratulations to Marissa for this well-deserved recognition!
